Chairman Message

Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management(URICM), Gandhinagar, Gujarat is the premier Institute imparting education and training to middle and senior level officials and non-officials from the co-operative sector of Gujarat. It is one of the best training infrastructure in the country in terms of co-operative education and training. In recent year’s lot of hard efforts have been put in to upgrade class rooms, seminar halls, libraries lodging, boarding, health and recreation facilities both for boys and girls. On an average per month 400 trainees, mostly women from deprived sections of the community are being imparted training for development of skill.

Apart from traditional courses, since 2008-2009 we have been offering PGDM in Agri. Business Management which includes new and contemporary elective subjects, review of course package, development of new case materials, and modernization of IT infrastructure. Our Library is a treasure house of latest books on all management related subjects with wide range of subscription of National and International Journals and Magazines. Institute is putting in all out efforts to match with the best Management Institutes in and around Gandhinagar. It is encouraging to see that Institute is successfully building an image of itself within the teaching fraternity.

It is my belief that education and training is an endless process. The more you delve deeper, the more you realize there is still a lot to discover. However, I feel a little disappointed when I see that at one hand many state and central Government organizations are taking full benefits of our facilities and manpower supports to conduct various range of training Programmes but on the other hand scenario is not very encouraging when it comes to our very co-operative sector. Through this column I exhort co-operative leaders to depute their staff members, officers and office bearers to make best use of our training programmes and infrastructure which boasts one of the best in the sector.

Mr. K. N. Shah, IAS, RCS
